Dr Ong Hean Yee

Dr Ong Hean Yee has more than 25 years of clinical experience in public hospitals including 7 years in the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and 15 years in public hospitals in Singapore.
He graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast, UK in 1994. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1998 and worked as a research fellow at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast from 1998 to 2000.
He completed his advanced specialty training in cardiology in 2004 at the National University Hospital, Singapore, and in 2006; was a Fellow in Advanced Cardiac Imaging at the Cleveland Clinic, USA, on a Human Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Singapore. He obtained his board certification in Echocardiography (ASCeXAM) in the same year and has the highest Level III accreditation in both Echocardiography and Cardiac CT.
Dr Ong set up the Division of Cardiology in Alexandra Hospital in 2007, which grew quickly into a Department within 3 years in 2010. He was appointed Head of the Department of Cardiology in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) in 2010. Under his leadership at KTPH and with the help of his team of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, the department rapidly established a complete range of services such as Cardiac Electrophysiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Heart Failure Program, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (including primary PCI) and a Clinical Research Programme.
He was involved in and had led many industry and investigator initiated clinical research studies since 1998. He has also been invited by several international cardiology societies to speak at their annual scientific meetings. His work has been referenced in the current European Guidelines.
He was the President of Singapore Cardiac Society (2018-2021) and was the Chairman of the MOH’s treadmill licensing committee in 2014 and member of MOH’s Writing Committee on “Good Clinical Practice in Heart Failure”. Dr Ong sits on the Domain Specific Review Board which oversees the ethical conduct of clinical trials.
Dr Ong supports the Singapore Ireland Fund, which is a charitable organisation that has helped, amongst others, young people with special needs and the elderly in Singapore. He maintains close links with the Singapore Medical Society of Ireland.
He currently practices at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, He is also a Visiting Consultant to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital nd is accredited to look after patients at all Parkway Hospitals as well as Mount Alvernia Hospital and Farrer Park Hospital.
Dr Ong speaks English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, and Bahasa.
