Dr Deanna Khoo is an experienced senior consultant cardiologist sub-specialising in interventional cardiology.
Dr Deanna Khoo graduated with first class honours from Imperial College School of Medicine where she was awarded the Goldberg-Shachmann award for achieving the top score in her BSc program. She worked for a year in the Northwest London Health Trust before returning back to Singapore to continue her internal medicine training. She completed her internal medicine training and was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom. Dr Khoo then went on to complete her advanced specialist training in Cardiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore where she subsequently completed her fellowship training in interventional cardiology.

During her time as Consultant Cardiologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Dr Khoo cared for outpatient and inpatient general cardiology patients. She has performed many coronary angiographies and percutaneous coronary interventions predominantly via the radial approach. Additionally, she has performed many complex percutaneous coronary interventions involving left main stenting, bifurcation stenting and treating calcified coronary arteries with artherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy. She is adept at performing intracoronary physiology assessment of the coronary vasculature as well as utilizing intracoronary imaging with intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography to perform her interventions. She is experienced in performing interventions with both the latest drug-eluting stents and drug-eluting balloons. She is part of the STEMI service that delivers round the clock interventions for acute myocardial infarction patients. She was part of the pioneering team in Singapore that first performed Impella assisted intervention, robotic assisted angioplasty and use of the lighting flash system for the management of pulmonary embolism. Dr Khoo also has an interest in echocardiography having obtained the ASCeXAM Testamur certification in adult echocardiography and is accredited in performing stress echocardiography.

Dr Khoo is a strong advocate of quality driven care for patients. During her time at Tan Tock Seng, she was heavily involved in providing quality care for patients with roles as the department quality review officer and contributed as the quality assurance committee secretariat. She was involved in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and was a clinical tutor for both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine as well as for the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Dr Khoo has been heavily involved with research and was the principal investigator in multiple international and local trials related to thrombus management, acute coronary syndromes and percutaneous coronary intervention. She has also been invited as faculty and panelist for several cardiology conferences and scientific meetings. She continues to contribute to patient care and education as a visiting consultant to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

In recognition of her professional contributions to the field of cardiology, Dr Khoo was elected Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. She has served on the executive committee for the Singapore cardiac Society and continues to be an active member of the community.
